Software-Defined Personal Safety Instrument
Your smartphone becomes a deterministic safety instrument. ROUTELOC monitors battery survival, daylight constraints, and relative performance — intervening authoritatively when conditions degrade. All decisions are rule-based, explainable, and execute entirely on-device.
No cloud dependency for safety logic. No machine learning. No black-box inference. Every intervention is traceable to an explicit rule and verifiable sensor input.
01
Deterministic
Rule-based decisions. No probabilistic models. Every state transition maps to an explicit condition with documented thresholds.
02
Conservative
Under uncertainty, the system errs toward intervention. Sensor dropout triggers conservative fallback. The bias is always toward constraint.
03
Local-First
All safety-critical computation runs on-device. No server dependency. The system operates identically offline, degraded, or fully connected.
04
Authoritative
In critical states, the system constrains user options. Override is limited or blocked. Interventions are enforced, not suggested.
05
Screen-Off
Designed for minimal visual interaction. Haptic directional guidance operates with the display off, preserving battery and cognitive attention.
06
Non-Medical
Explicitly not a medical device. No health diagnostics. Performance detection is relative to session baseline only — never a clinical assessment.
Battery
Endurance Mode
Monitors real-time battery drain rate against estimated time required for safe return. When remaining battery is insufficient, the system forces reduced power consumption — lowering GPS sampling, enforcing screen-off, and simplifying navigation output.
Does not guarantee battery will last. Does not modify hardware power management. Estimates are based on observed drain rates, not manufacturer specifications.
Daylight
Twilight Lockdown
Calculates sunset time for current coordinates and continuously compares estimated return time against remaining daylight. When return before sunset is no longer possible, the system escalates to critical state and recommends immediate return.
Does not guarantee safe return before dark. Does not account for terrain-specific visibility conditions. Sunset calculations are based on astronomical data and current position.
Performance
Haptic Ghost Navigation
Delivers directional guidance through distinct vibration patterns — single pulse for left, double for right, continuous for straight. Operates with the screen off, reducing cognitive load, battery drain, and visual distraction during movement.
Does not replace situational awareness. Does not navigate autonomously. Haptic patterns are guidance cues, not commands. The user retains full responsibility for navigation decisions.

Instrument Ready — All Systems Safe Safe All constraint monitors active. Battery, daylight, and performance within thresholds. System armed.
Endurance Mode Forced — Battery Critical Critical Battery survival insufficient for return. Endurance Mode forced. Override blocked. GPS sampling reduced.
Twilight Lockdown — Daylight Critical Critical Safe return before sunset no longer possible. Twilight Lockdown engaged. Return enforcement active.
Performance Degradation Advisory — Warning Warning Pace decay detected relative to session baseline. Advisory only — no forced intervention. Not a health assessment.
Haptic Navigation — Screen Off Operation System Screen-off haptic guidance active. Directional cues via vibration pattern. Battery drain minimized.

ROUTELOC separates safety logic from platform implementation. The decision engine is shared across platforms and auditable independently of sensor access, rendering, or operating system behavior.

KMP Shared Core
Priority arbitration engine
State machine (SAFE / WARNING / CRITICAL)
Battery survival calculator
Daylight constraint resolver
Performance baseline comparator
Decision cycle logger
Native Shells (iOS / Android)
GPS and sensor access
Battery state polling
Haptic engine interface
Map rendering
Screen and notification management
Telemetry export interface
No safety logic executes in the cloud. No safety logic executes in the native shell. The Core is the single source of authority.

ROUTELOC is engineered around verifiable claims. Each capability maps to a specific, measurable assertion that can be validated through on-device telemetry. Claims that cannot be proven on-device are not made.

Design-Intent Claims (Validation Pending)
B1 Measurable battery drain reduction in Endurance Mode vs. baseline navigation
B2 Battery survival estimation within defined accuracy margin
S1 Autonomous daylight intervention triggered by deterministic sunset calculation
S2 Sunset-to-return time comparison accuracy within defined tolerance
I1 Override blocking enforced in critical states without exception
I2 Every intervention explainable via logged decision cycle and sensor inputs
F1 Relative performance degradation detection against session-established baseline
F2 Non-medical framing maintained in all fatigue-related outputs and advisories
If it cannot be proven on-device, it does not exist.

ROUTELOC operates within explicit, documented constraints. These are not limitations — they are architectural decisions that define the product category and protect the integrity of every claim.

NOT A trail discovery or route recommendation platform
NOT A social or community-driven outdoor network
NOT A fitness tracker, activity logger, or performance coach
NOT A medical device, health diagnostic, or clinical tool
NOT A replacement for professional judgment or emergency rescue services
NOT A guarantee of safety outcomes, injury prevention, or incident avoidance

Battery and daylight interventions are based on deterministic calculations derived from real-time sensor data. Performance degradation detection is relative to session baseline only. All claims are governed by a formal specification system that prohibits any assertion not explicitly listed and validated.
